Inspiration

My inspiration and vision stems from the campus of Howard University fall of 2014. I was a graduating senior from Flint, MI dealing with all of the stress, trials, and tribulations that life could possibly throw at me. Throughout college I had been known to be the creative of my group of friends. They would always joke about the things I would take pictures of and the measures I took to capture the image. I would shake it off and laugh along with them because I knew deep down that I was anointed and that this was a gift given to me by the man upstairs. I would always tell people “When you are anointed to do something you become passionate about it.” I became so passionate about it that one of my coworkers took notice and let me borrow her Nikon d3100 for the next two years. From the moment I stepped in the streets with that DSLR camera, my photography went from being a stress reliever to telling a story through my lens.   I have made it a responsibility of mine to not only use photography for my well-being but to also touch people through the stories told with one click of the shutter button. When people look at my work I want them to not only see my story but also how it would apply to their everyday lives. If someone views my work and can’t express how it applies to their everyday life, then I feel like I have failed.
